Statistics study enables students to describe and analyse phenomena involving uncertainty and variation. In this study area, students move from asking statistically sound questions towards a basic understanding of how and why statistical decisions are made. The area of study provides students with opportunities and techniques to examine arguments and conjectures from a statistical point of view. This involves working with discrete and continuous variables and the normal distribution in various contexts, learning about sampling in certain situations, and understanding the importance of sampling in statistical decision-making.
