Arithmetic and Geometric Sequences and Series

Arithmetic and geometric sequences and series and their applications, such as growth and decay, are introduced, and their recursive definitions are applied.


The context of this topic is the geometry of planar figures. The focus is on forming and testing hypotheses about their properties, which become theorems if proven true. Students form ideas about which properties of a figure might be universal and test enough examples to be convinced that their idea is correct before they attempt a formal proof. Electronic technology is used whenever possible for testing to be effective and efficient.
